Chained Together has 16 Steam achievements: thirteen mark progress through named areas, one requires ten Wings of Freedom, one asks you to reach the summit in under 1 hour and 50 minutes, and one requires finishing Lava Mode. Start by deciding which kind of objective you are pursuing; a careful collectible search and a fast clear need different priorities.

The checklist below follows the official Steam achievement definitions, reviewed on 22 October 2026. It gives the listed conditions without inventing hidden triggers, current completion percentages, or a guarantee that a particular reload or shortcut will unlock them.

01

All 16 achievements and their conditions

An area achievement asks you to reach that location. Do not confuse entering an area with completing every obstacle within it: the published requirement is arrival at the named point, rather than a separate full-level challenge.

These are sixteen distinct entries, even though many belong to one continuous climb. Over The Buildings is especially easy to misread because its achievement name and the destination named in its condition differ slightly.

02

Check the mode before the attempt

The current official store description says achievements and leaderboard scores are valid only in Normal and Lava modes. That current rule takes priority over contradictory community accounts from 2024 that describe unlocking some achievements in Beginner. Plan the attempt around the current official wording rather than treating an old success report as permission to bypass it.

Beginner still has value for learning because the store explicitly gives it checkpoints. Separate a practice session from the run you intend to use for your objective, and discuss that distinction with your group before launching. The modes guide compares the available formats.

03

First objective: learn the route and track area progress

The thirteen area entries provide a useful progression checklist for an early climb. Keep their names available and note which ones remain locked on your own Steam account. This makes a later attempt more focused than repeatedly replaying familiar opening sections without knowing your next destination.

For a group, agree that the first priority is reliable movement. Stop on stable platforms to examine the next transition, decide the order of movement, and explain unfamiliar obstacles before somebody jumps. These are editorial practice habits, not special achievement triggers.

If you use a guide to understand the route, keep its purpose clear. A map overview can explain where you are; it cannot replace checking whether your account actually received the corresponding achievement. The height and ending guide organizes the original climb without claiming an officially measured total height.

04

Second objective: collect the ten Wings of Freedom

The official 10 Wings condition is a complete set of ten collectibles. Finding nine, seeing a teammate pick up the last one, or enabling a menu option should not be treated as proof that your own achievement condition has been satisfied. Check the record associated with the account you are trying to complete.

Use the wings guide to plan a dedicated search through the original level. Its historical community location references are most useful when you take the time to compare landmarks. Searching carefully while the rest of the group races ahead can make both objectives harder.

A simple editorial checklist helps: record each location visited, which players checked it, and whether the game reflected the expected progress. If your count does not match your notes, revisit the uncertain pickup before assuming a universal bug or deleting progress files. A teammate's memory is useful evidence, but it is not the same as an account's recorded completion.

05

Third objective: prepare for Climb faster

The published time limit is less than 1 hour and 50 minutes, equivalent to 110 minutes. “Less than” matters: do not plan to arrive exactly at the displayed boundary. The official definition does not provide a per-area split chart, and this guide does not invent one.

Build your own practice notes instead. Record where your group spends time waiting, explaining a jump, recovering from a mistake, or choosing a route. Improving a repeated hesitation may be more useful than attempting a dramatic shortcut that nobody can reproduce consistently.

Agree on the route and roles before the timed attempt. A player looking for a missed wing while another expects a fast clear creates a conflict that better movement alone will not solve. Keep the run's objective simple, and use a separate session for exploration or unfamiliar controls.

06

Fourth objective: complete Lava Mode

Lava changes the pressure on the climb because flames rise beneath the players. Its achievement condition is a finish, so prepare to handle the route as a whole instead of concentrating only on one difficult jump. Rehearse unfamiliar sections before relying on improvisation under pressure.

For a group, decide how you will communicate when a player falls or the chain catches. Short, agreed calls are easier to follow than several people issuing different instructions. Leave enough attention for what is happening on screen; a plan is helpful only while it still matches the actual situation.

Do not assume that collecting wings or loading saved progress proves that a Lava finish will receive credit. The official definition is brief and does not document every possible combination of session options. Judge success by the game's completed run and the achievement result, rather than a third-party claim that one technique always works.

07

Keep save recovery separate from achievement proof

Continuing a session and receiving an achievement answer different questions. A recovery option may put your character back into the climb, but that alone does not establish how a timed challenge or other completion condition is evaluated. Preserve your progress before testing unfamiliar recovery behaviour.

The save and checkpoints guide includes a short-session recovery test and dates the community reports behind its workflow. Use that preparation to understand your own setup. Avoid claiming a successful achievement run until Steam actually shows the unlock.

08

Investigate a missing unlock methodically

Record the achievement name, mode, game version, session arrangement, and what happened at the expected location or finish. Check your own Steam list and compare it with your notes. If playing together, ask whether the other accounts saw the same result rather than assuming the entire group is affected identically.

Look for current developer information before applying an old workaround. The September 2026 hotfix changed several Race Mode behaviours, illustrating why dated advice needs context. Race-specific fixes should not be presented as confirmed repairs for an unrelated achievement problem.

For a manageable completion plan, work through the route, collectibles, timed summit, and Lava finish as separate goals. After each session, update the checklist from the actual Steam results. That gives your next climb a concrete purpose without depending on an unsupported shortcut or a remembered unlock notification.
